Philanthropy Activities by JRD Shah: DONATION OF MEDICINES TO JAIN ASHRAM,MANDVI KUTCH.

The Meghji Sojpal Jain Ashram (shelter home) has been serving for last 59 years as the shelter home for mentally challenged, physically challenged, blind, very old men and women and old people suffering from long term diseases like tuberculosis and cancer, having no financial or family support. The ashram is giving shelter to 145 old and disabled men and women at present. The ashram has given shelter to more than 2500 men and women in last 50 years.

It has a staff of 45 employees for taking care of the inmates.

The Ashram (shelter home) was established in the year 1948 at Mandvi-Kutch in the state of Gujarat in INDIA with intention to give shelter to very poor mentally and physically challenged persons. It also supports old men and women who do not have any financial or family support.

The ashram is spread in the area of 45 acres of land. The land has been donated to ashram by Shree Jayanand Nagjibhai.

Shree Meghjibhai Sojpal was the founder president of the ashram. The ashram has two wings one each for men and another for women inmates.

It has medical dispensary and medical officers.

The ashram has earned a great reputation and goodwill over a period of last 59 years and those who get the opportunity to visit the ashram gets highly impressed with the care, warmth and treatment given to the mentally and physically challenged inmates of the ashram.

The staff of ashram treats the inmates with love & care, give them regular medical treatment and in many cases bring them back to a much better mental and physical conditions. Most of these inmates gets shelter in the ashram till they live.

The visitors, after seeing the excellent work put in by the ashram, donate generously. They also spread the good words to others about the humanatarian work done by the ashram. And the donations flow from others, making it possible for the ashram to continue to work for the service of mankind.

Mr.JRD Shah has been donating complete requirement of medicines for mentally challanged inmates of the Ashram since 2006.The reputed names from pharmaceutical industry Shri Dilipbhai Shanghvi of Sun Pharma Ltd, and Shri Jayeshbhai Patel of Kivi Labs have been sending medicines free of cost to the Ashram.

Mr.JRD Shah is also member of Executive Committee of the Jain Ashram.

The annual expenses of Ashram is apprx. US $ 130,000 ( Rs. 55 lacs).
